GOP rep mocks Carson for bumbling Hamas pronunciation
Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.) on Thursday teased GOP presidential candidate Ben Carson for stumbling on the pronunciation of a Palestinian group long accused of advocating violence against Israelis.
Carson was reading a lengthy speech on the Middle East before a prominent Jewish Republican group on Thursday when he referred to the U.S.-recognized terrorist group Hamas as something that sounded closer to “hummus.”
“Carson is clearly not a fan of hummus,” tweeted Amash, who has endorsed Carson’s presidential rival Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.).

{mosads}Carson, a retired neurosurgeon near the top of the GOP pack in recent polls, gave his speech Thursday in an effort to demonstrate his knowledge of foreign policy, which has been scrutinized in recent weeks following the terrorist attacks in Paris.
