A French preschool teacher made up a story about being attacked by a masked assailant with the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), multiple reports say.

The teacher’s initial report inspired a manhunt early Monday in the northern Paris suburb of Aubervilliers, according to the Associated Press.

{mosads}Prosecutors later said they had determined that the teacher made up the claims.

The Paris prosecutor’s office said no masked ISIS assailant is on the loose in the area, AP added.

News reports based on the teacher’s story said the teacher had been slashed with a box-cutter and scissors early Monday at the Jean Perrin Preschool. The stories stated that the teacher was attacked by someone wearing a ski mask and gloves who proclaimed his support for ISIS.

ISIS’s French magazine, Dar-al-Islam, called for attacks on teachers in France last month, BBC reported Monday.  Dar-al-Islam said French teachers are “enemies of Allah” for teaching secular values.

France remains on edge following a terrorist attack in Paris last month that killed 130 people and wounded more than 300 others.

ISIS has since claimed responsibility for the string of coordinated bombings and shootings across the French capital on Nov. 13.
