McCain: Trump and Putin ‘a match made in heaven’

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) mocked GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump on Thursday for receiving praise from Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“That’s a match made in heaven,” McCain said on Fox Business Network’s “Mornings with Maria.” “Absolutely, I can hardly wait.”

{mosads}McCain also criticized the Obama administration for frequently backing down when confronted with aggression from Putin overseas.

“The pandering to Vladimir Putin is unlike anything I’ve ever seen in any president,” he said of President Obama.

“You’d have to go all the way back to Neville Chamberlain in Munich to see this kind of pandering towards Vladimir Putin,” he said, comparing Obama to British prime minister who gave concessions to Adolf Hitler.

“[These are] the most remarkable comments from Secretary of State John Kerry that I’ve ever heard in my life,” the Arizona lawmaker added.

“Now we don’t have to get rid of [Syrian leader] Bashar al-Assad, everything’s fine with the Russians, we are going to get along with Vladimir Putin.”

McCain additionally predicted Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) would not overtake Trump to win the 2016 Republican presidential nomination.

“I hope that we as Republicans in a fair and honest election would support the nominee of the party. That’s why we’re Republicans,” said McCain, the party’s 2008 presidential nominee.

“I can also tell you I don’t believe that Sen. Cruz will be elected Ms. Congeniality at any time soon among his Republican colleagues, much less Democrats.”

Putin complimented Trump as a “really brilliant and talented person” late Wednesday during his annual question-and-answer session in Moscow.

“It’s not our job to judge his qualities — that’s the job for the American voters — but he’s the absolute leader in the presidential race,” Putin said of the real estate tycoon.

Trump has repeatedly promised he would improve relations with Putin should he become the president next year.

The outspoken billionaire also sparked outrage earlier this year by questioning whether McCain deserves to be called a war hero.

“I like people that weren’t captured,” Trump said last July of McCain’s imprisonment during the Vietnam War.
