Rep. Pete King (R-N.Y.) slammed Sen. Ted Cruz (Texas) on Thursday, saying he should “go back under a rock” after Cruz criticized Donald Trump earlier this week for having “New York values.”

“Memo to Ted Cruz: New York Values are the heroes of 9/11; the cops who fight terror; and the people you ask for campaign donations. Go back under a rock,” King said in a statement to CNN.

{mosads}Cruz said on Wednesday that Trump comes from New York and “embodies New York values.”

“Listen, the Donald seems to be a little bit rattled,” Cruz said during an interview on “The Howie Carr Show.”

Trump embraced the attack, saying during an interview with radio host Howie Carr on Wednesday that the word “energy” represents New York. The city rebuilt the World Trade Center after it had been hit, he said.

“Very few places in this world could have gotten through what we went through,” Trump said. “I was so proud of New York.

King, who has yet to endorse in the presidential race, has gone after Cruz before.

On CNN’s Situation Room last year, King said if Cruz ends up being the GOP’s presidential nominee, he “will jump off a bridge.”

“I hope that day never comes,” he said, after attacking Cruz as a person who oversimplifies, exaggerates and has “basically led the Republican party over the cliff in the fall of 2013.”

“He has shown no qualifications, no legislation being passed, doesn’t provide leadership and he has no real experience. So, to me, he is just a guy with a big mouth and no results,” King said.
