Kasich: Reuniting Pink Floyd a goal if elected president

John Kasich is promising to work to reassemble the British rock group Pink Floyd if the Republican Ohio governor elected president next November.

“If I’m the president, I’m going to try to, once and for all, reunite Pink Floyd to come together and play a couple songs,” he said Tuesday on CNN.

{mosads}“Since we have so much trouble in America with our finances, I’m going to start with a little song they created called ‘Money,’” he told host Alisyn Camerota, referencing the band’s 1973 single.

“That’s better than ‘Comfortably Numb,’” Camerota responded, alluding to one of the band’s tunes from their 1979 album “The Wall.”

“We may be ‘Comfortably Numb’ after New Hampshire, we’ll see,” Kasich quipped of the state’s GOP presidential primary next Tuesday.

Kasich also said that a Pink Floyd performance was his favorite concert of all time.

“I saw ‘The Wall’ in Pittsburgh and it was absolutely incredible,” he said. “I don’t even have to think twice. It was the best.”

The Ohio governor added that he admires Roger Waters, the classic rock outfit’s co-founder, bassist and vocalist.

“Roger Waters is a remarkable artist,” he said.

Kasich faces an uphill battle reuniting the band’s defining lineup, according to Billboard Magazine. It noted that Pink Floyd’s keyboardist, Rick Wright, passed away in 2008, only two years after Syd Barrett, the group’s lead singer.

Waters also has a troubled relationship with the band’s other members, the music publication said, adding that current frontman and guitarist David Gilmour has vowed that Pink Floyd’s 2013 album “The Endless River” is its last.

Kasich, meanwhile, is banking on a strong showing in New Hampshire’s GOP presidential primary next week.  He has repeatedly said he would suspend his Oval Office bid if he gets “smoked” there.
