Trump digs at Cruz, calling him ‘Lying Ted’
Donald Trump bashed Ted Cruz as “Lying Ted” as Thursday night’s GOP debate continued its fireworks.
{mosads}Cruz and Rubio had ganged up on Trump, accusing him of waffling on his tough talk on immigration. They specifically noted reports that Trump made off-the-record comments to The New York Times about immigration and questioned whether those comments would undercut his rhetoric.
“That’s why this New York Times tape is so troubling, beacuse what’s been reported is Donald told the editorial board of The New York Times, ‘What I’m saying on immigration, I don’t believe. I’m not going to build a wall, I’m not going to deport people,’ this is all just rhetoric for the voters,” Cruz said.
“If he didn’t say that, he has an easy solution — simply release the tape.”
Trump struck back when Cruz repeated the attack a few minutes later.
“You’re the lying guy up here. You’re the one, you’re the one,” Trump said.
“I’ve given my answer, Lying Ted. I’ve given my answer.”
While Trump debuted the pejorative nickname for Cruz during a Super Tuesday rally, it’s the first time he’s used it on a national forum.
