Michelle Obama observed International Women’s Day this week by immortalizing her name in graffiti on a wall in Washington, D.C.

Obama, alongside renowned street artist Mr. Brainwash, showed off her skills with a can of spray paint in honor of her Let Girls Learn initiative, according to TMZ.

{mosads}TMZ on Wednesday released footage from the day before of the first lady inking her name in black cursive on a mural covered in an array of brightly colored hearts as onlookers clap and cheer.

“It’s like, unreal,” Mr. Brainwash said about meeting the Obama. “She’s such a real person, you feel like you know her. You feel like it’s your family.

“It’s the true beauty,” the artist added of Obama’s first attempt at street tagging. “It’s so natural [and] so real. She’s gifted. She knows how to make it happen.”

Obama first announced her Let Girls Learn initiative last March, arguing the world’s young women “richly deserve” increased educational opportunities.

The program aims at schooling 62 million girls worldwide who lack convenient academic access. It also provides training for Peace Corps volunteers and then places them in participating host nations.

Obama plans on attending Nancy Reagan’s funeral in Simi Valley, Calif., on Friday morning. The former first lady died of congestive heart failure at age 94.
