Sanders calls out Bill Clinton’s clash with protesters

Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders criticized Bill Clinton’s public argument with Black Lives Matter protesters, calling his words “unacceptable.” 

{mosads}Clinton came under fire last week for defending Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton’s use of the word “super predators” back in the 1990s when confronted by protesters at a event about the crime bill he signed in 1994.

“I think that the president owes the American people an apology for trying to defend the indefensible,” Sanders said. 

Bill Clinton said the day after the altercation that he “almost wants to apologize” for the incident, which some saw as a revival of a racially charged term that Hillary Clinton has apologized for. 

Sanders was speaking at an event at the Apollo Theater with guests Spike Lee, Harry Belafonte, Erica Garner and Nina Turner. 

Sanders voted in favor of the ’94 bill and has said during the campaign that parts of it, especially provisions to address violence against women and weapons, were too important to vote down. He frequently addresses unequal incarceration rates.
