Cruz casts Trump as sore loser amid his delegate victories
Ted Cruz laid into Donald Trump during a Monday night rally in San Diego, casting him as a sore loser amid the businessman’s criticism of the GOP delegate process.
“You may have noticed that when Donald loses, he gets very unhappy. He yells and screams and stamps his foot, he curses and yells and insults anyone nearby,” Cruz said.
{mosads}“Look, as we know in the state of California, wine is something best served with cheese.”
Cruz lorded his streak of wins over Trump, paying particular attention to his recent delegate victories over the GOP front-runner as a contested convention looks more likely than ever.
The Texas senator went on to highlight Trump’s repeated attacks on the Colorado state and local conventions, which netted him zero delegates while Cruz took all 34.
Trump pointed to that outcome as proof the race is rigged against him during comments on Twitter and in the media, and he doubled down on the “rigged, disgusting, dirty” primary system during a Monday night rally.
But Cruz brushed that criticism aside, noting that his wins have been by the rules.
“Donald, it ain’t stealing when the voters vote against you, it’s the voters reclaiming this country and reclaiming sanity,” Cruz said.
