Cruz to Trump: Stop ‘whining’ about delegate process

Republican presidential hopeful Ted Cruz told rival Donald Trump to stop “whining” Sunday, following a weeklong tirade from the GOP front-runner in which he accused GOP party leaders of canceling the vote in convention states. 

Cruz shut Trump out of delegates in Colorado and Wyoming, where the Republican parties there decided to award delegates via county and state conventions instead of by primary or caucus. 

{mosads}That hasn’t sat well with Trump. He’s called the party’s system a “scam” and a “disgrace,” sending out another tweet Sunday accusing Cruz of dirty politics.

Cruz responded, using the hashtag #nowhining.

Cruz won all 34 delegates in Colorado last weekend, and, on Saturday, the Texas senator took the vast majority of delegates offered up in Wyoming. 

Trump for the past week has accused the party of muting the voices of voters, though the Republican National Committee (RNC) maintains the delegate processes are decided by state parties and have been finalized since last October. 

RNC Chairman Reince Priebus fired back on Sunday at Trump, saying it’s up to the candidates to learn the rules. 

“The RNC doesn’t have the authority to change the rules even if we wanted to, and each candidate has to know the rules, learn the rules, and abide by the rules and ultimately the majority will decide everything in Cleveland,” Priebus said on CBS’s “Face the Nation.” 

Trump said Saturday at a New York rally the party would face a “rough July” if it didn’t “straighten out” its primary system.
