Poll: Trump, Clinton seen unfavorably by majority of voters

Likely general election rivals Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton share high unfavorable ratings in a new poll.

The Washington Post/ABC News poll released early Sunday found that a majority, 57 percent, of registered voters view both candidates unfavorably. Forty-six percent of those voters have “strongly unfavorable” opinions about Clinton, the Democratic presidential front-runner, while 45 percent said the same thing about Trump, the presumptive GOP presidential nominee.

{mosads}Forty-one percent of registered voters view Clinton favorably, compared to Trump’s 40 percent.

The news organizations said never before in their poll’s history have voters viewed each major party’s nominee as harshly.

Trump and Clinton are locked in a statistical dead heat, according to the poll, with 46 percent backing Trump and 44 percent picking Clinton.

The poll of 829 registered voters was conducted between May 16 and 19. It has a margin of error of 3.5 percentage points.
