Jeb Bush is returning to his Florida-based education foundation as chairman three months after suspending his White House campaign.

The Foundation for Excellence in Education announced Tuesday that Bush had been elected chairman of the foundation and president of its board of directors. The former Florida governor formed the foundation after leaving office in 2007.

{mosads}Bush stepped down in December 2014, leaving Condoleezza Rice to take over as chair in January 2015, months before Bush formally declared his presidential campaign. The foundation said Tuesday that the former secretary of State will remain on its board.

Bush was also elected to the board of the foundation’s non-profit arm, which he launched in 2014 to push for education reform legislation at the state level. He’ll serve as chairman and president of that non-profit, too.

Bush said he was “honored” to come back to the foundation and thanked Rice in a statement, saying, “Too many children right now are failed by a deeply flawed bureaucratic system, but I’m optimistic about the future because I’ve seen the great results produced by states across the country.”
