{mosads}About 15 House Republicans attended the roundtable meeting, according to CNN. Rep. Lou Barletta (Pa.), who was in the room, told CNN that Trump Jr. painted himself as an avid hunter and promised his father, as president, would appoint a Supreme Court judge who would uphold the Second Amendment.
The meeting comes a week after Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee, nabbed an endorsement from the leading gun rights lobby.
“Now is the time to unite. If your preferred candidate dropped out of the race, it’s time to get over it,” Cox said while endorsing Trump last week at the group’s convention.
Trump embraced the endorsement, painting himself as the candidate who would protect the rights of gun owners.
“The Second Amendment is under a threat like never before,” Trump said, adding that he would get rid of “gun-free zones” if elected president.
