Adelson aides in talks to make pro-Trump super PAC

A GOP mega-donor’s aides are discussing whether they can launch a super PAC supporting Donald Trump, according to a new report.

Sheldon Adelson’s team is discussing the project with a small group of veteran Republican operatives, according to Politico.

{mosads}Politico on Tuesday reported that the list includes former Republican Governors Association executive directors Nick Ayers and Phil Cox.

Chip Englander, Rand Paul’s former presidential campaign manager and Josh Holmes, Mitch McConnell’s former chief of staff, are also involved.

Two sources told Politico that Adelson adviser Andy Abboud met Ayers in Las Vegas last week over the group’s possible genesis. Gov. Chris Christie (R-N.J.) is the main Trump supporter attached with the idea.

Christie is helping cultivate talks between donors and the outfit’s potential consultants. The New Jersey governor has become a key Trump surrogate after ending his own White House run in February.

Adelson formally endorsed Trump earlier this month in a Washington Post op-ed backing his fellow billionaire.

“The alternative to Trump being sworn in as the nation’s 45^th president is frightening,” he wrote. “Republicans have fought tooth and nail against President Obama. 

“We gained some victories, but on too many issues Obama achieved his goals, if not necessarily America’s goals. As Republicans, we know that getting a person in the White House with an ‘R’ behind his name is the only way things will get better.”

Reports emerged earlier this month that Adelson would willingly donate more than $100 million towards Trump’s campaign.

The Las Vegas casino magnate is purportedly curbing his spending on congressional races so he can focus on the White House race instead.

Adelson spent at least $98 million on the 2012 presidential election, according to ProPublica. The money was split between the White House and congressional races.
