Some Capitol offices flooded on Tuesday afternoon due to heavy rain.

Several people tweeted videos of water falling from an elevator and of flooding on the fourth floor of the Rayburn House Office building.

One video was captioned: “Send help! Congress going down like the Titanic.”

Severe thunderstorms were expected to move through the D.C. region Tuesday.

The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the D.C. metro region earlier Tuesday.
