Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump quickly fired back at Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) Monday night after Booker’s speech at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia with a cryptic tweet.

{mosads}Trump criticized Booker, who was considered a top contender to be presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton’s vice president, tweeting: “If Cory Booker is the future of the Democratic Party, they have no future! I know more about Cory than he knows about himself.”

Booker, a rising star in the Democratic Party, took the stage Monday before first lady Michelle Obama and Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.). His speech, which he used to assail Trump, was received well by the party faithful.

“Hillary Clinton knows what Donald Trump betrays time and again in this campaign: that we are not a zero-sum nation; it is not you or me; it is not one American against another,” Booker said. “It is you and I, together, interdependent, interconnected, with one single interwoven American destiny.”

Democrats are expected to formally nominate Clinton for president later this week.
