Clinton to hit Trump over outsourcing on Rust Belt bus tour

Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton will hit on Donald Trump on outsourcing jobs and promote her own job-creation plan during a bus tour through Pennsylvania and Ohio.

Clinton and running mate Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) will outline their proposals to bolster U.S. industry, according to a Clinton aide. They’ll also knock Trump’s history of manufacturing products sporting his name in foreign countries, not the U.S.

{mosads}“[Trump] has outsourced whatever products and manufacturing he could to help his own personal bottom line and stiffed any contractor or small business if he could make money off it,” said the Clinton aide.

Clinton and Kaine, fresh off this week’s Democratic National Convention, kicked off the tour on Friday. One of the first stops will be to a toy factory in Hatfield, Pa., according to the aide.

Trump has blamed the country’s declining industrial sector on poorly negotiated free trade agreements. He’s promised to revisit deals with foreign countries if he thinks they are unfair, pinpointing Mexico and China as countries he says rip off American workers.

Trump has made his business legacy a central part of his campaign, but Democrats have also taken aim at that, noting that much of Trump-‘s branded clothing and products were produced in Mexico, China and countries across Asia and Europe.

The Clinton campaign will highlight that message to Pennsylvania and Ohio voters, according to the campaign. They hope to win over a key demographic for Trump–white, less educated voters–in the two crucial battleground states.

Clinton and Kaine will also pitch her jobs plan, calling for major investments in U.S. infrastructure and renewable energy, heavy penalties for American companies that move abroad and tax and regulatory relief for small business.

Clinton highlighted that plan Thursday night in her speech accepting the party’s presidential nomination. 

“If we invest in infrastructure now, we’ll not only create jobs today, but lay the foundation for the jobs of the future. And we will transform the way we prepare our young people for those jobs,” said Clinton.
