Hillary Clinton pushed back on Donald Trump’s attack that she “stayed home” while he campaigned around the country.
Discussing race relations at the first presidential debate of 2016, the Republican nominee said he’s visited inner cities across the country and listened to the woes of minorities who feel dissatisfied with the responses from lawmakers.
{mosads}”I’ve been all over the place. You decided to stay home, and that’s OK,” Trump said.
“But I will tell you: I’ve been all over, and I met some of the greatest people I’ll ever meet within these communities, and they told me they are very, very upset about what politicians have told them and what their politicians have done.”
Clinton fired back.
“I think Donald just criticized me for preparing for this debate, and, yes, I did,” the Democratic nominee said.
“You know what else I prepared for? I prepared to be president, and I think that’s a good thing,” she said to a smattering of applause. The audience at the debate was warned to remain quiet during the event.
