Poll: Trump leads by 7 points in Texas
Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump leads Democrat Hillary Clinton by 7 points in Texas, a new poll released Wednesday shows.
{mosads}In the KTVT-CBS 11/Dixie Strategies Poll, Trump leads Clinton 45 percent to 38 percent.
Another 10 percent said they are still undecided.
While Trump is ahead, the margin is much smaller than usual in deep-red Texas. Mitt Romney won the state over President Obama in 2012 by 16 points.
“He really should be doing a lot better. There’s no reason why, at this late in the game, that he should be under 50 percent in the state of Texas,” said Brian Graham of Dixie Strategies.
In a RealClearPolitics polling average, Trump leads Clinton by 6.3 points, 43 percent to 36.7 percent, in Texas.
