GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump accused Hillary Clinton of trying to “politicize” the FBI investigation into her private email server, swiping at her for her brief press conference to address newly discovered emails.
{mosads}“In her very brief remarks tonight, Hillary Clinton tried to politicize this investigation by attacking and falsely accusing the FBI director of only sending the letter to Republicans, another Clinton lie, as it turned out the letter was sent to both Republican and Democratic leaders in Congress,” Trump said at a rally in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
“The FBI would never have reopened this case at this time unless it were a most egregious criminal offense. As you know, I’ve had plenty of words about the FBI lately, but I give them great credit for having the courage to right this horrible wrong. Justice will prevail.”
At her short news conference Friday, Clinton said that she had not been contacted by anyone at the FBI and said she found out about the news at the same time as the press, “when this letter sent to Republican members of the House was released.”
The letter was addressed to eight GOP chairs, along with the Democratic ranking members of each committee.
