Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) is considering voting for independent presidential candidate Evan McMullin on Tuesday.

{mosads}In an interview with ABC’s Jon Karl published Tuesday, Flake said a vote for McMullin is “a possibility,” while adding that “it’s not been easy” withholding his support from Republican nominee Donald Trump.

Flake told ABC that as a consequence of his lack of support for Trump, his popularity has significantly decreased in recent months.

He also added that he is hopeful for an improved political climate among his supporters when he is up for reelection in 2018.

Flake cast doubt on the prospect of Trump winning the presidency in November, stating that such an outcome will be “very unlikely.”

Turning to the Senate, Flake admitted that the control of the chamber will be decided by a very close race “and I wouldn’t want to call it today.”

“I wouldn’t want to speculate losing the Senate,” he told ABC. “I’m still hopeful we’ll hold it.”
