Melania Trump to stress kindness and respect in rare appearance
Melania Trump on Thursday will share her vision as a potential first lady, according to a preview from Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.
{mosads}“People have asked me, if Donald is president, what kind of first lady will you be?” Melania Trump will say at an event near Philadelphia.
“I want our children in this country, and all around the world, to live a beautiful life, to be safe and secure,” she will add. “To dream freely of love and a family of their own someday. We need to teach our youth American values: Kindness, respect, compassion, charity, understanding, cooperation.”
The Donald Trump campaign said Melania Trump will also discuss the Republican nominee’s “deep love and respect” for the U.S. and detail her husband’s qualifications for the White House.
“Surrounded by our family, and speaking to an audience of millions, Donald promised to campaign on behalf of those who feel the system is broken and does not work for them, those who just want a fair shake, an opportunity for a better education, a better-paying job, a better future,” she will say.
“He pledged to restore integrity to Washington, and respect for America abroad. And I have come here today to talk about our partnership, our family, and what I know for sure in my heart about this man, who will ‘make America great again.’”
The event is Trump’s first speech since the Republican National Convention in July. The former model faced backlash after that event for plagiarizing portions of the speech first lady Michelle Obama delivered to the Democratic National Convention in 2008.
Trump has been a rarity on the campaign trail, saying she prefers to stay at home and nurture the couple’s 10-year old son, Barron Trump.
