Donald Trump’s campaign manager, Kellyanne Conway, is defending Steve Bannon from racism and anti-Semitism accusations after he was named a top adviser to the president-elect.
{mosads}In an interview on NBC’s “Today” show on Tuesday, Conway called the former Breitbart executive “brilliant,” adding that he’s “not as scary” as many are making him out to be.
“I know him well. I worked hand-in-glove with him,” she said. “I feel that these charges are very unfair.”
Trump was widely criticized after tapping Bannon as his chief strategist on Sunday, with opponents citing many of the website’s inflammatory articles.
Conway was noncommittal when pressed about having Bannon do media appearances to defend himself against criticism from both sides of the aisle.
“This man believes in President-elect Trump’s vision, and he is there to support his vision,” Conway said. “Not everyone wants to be a public face.”
