Trump calls Schumer ‘cunning’ in deleted tweet
Donald Trump called Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) “cunning” in a tweet praising the incoming Senate Democratic leader that the president-elect later deleted.
{mosads}”I have always had a good relationship with Chuck Shumer. He is much smarter than Harry R, and actually, far more cunning – gets things done!” the president-elect originally tweeted on Sunday morning.
Trump also misspelled Schumer’s name in the original tweet, which included a reference to outgoing Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.). That tweet was deleted.
A new tweet was then posted without the word “cunning.”
“I have always had a good relationship with Chuck Schumer. He is far smarter than Harry R and has the ability to get things done. Good news!” he said in the new tweet, which is still up.

Schumer, who is set to be the Senate Democratic caucus’s lead negotiator with Trump’s administration, denied this weekend he and Trump ever had a close relationship.
“He was not my friend. We never went golfing together, even had a meal together,” Schumer said in an interview with Politico published Saturday.
“He’s called me, we’ve had civil conversations a couple of times. But I’ve got to see what he does.”
During his campaign, the president-elect claimed he would be able to get along well with Schumer.
“I was always very good with Schumer. I was close to Schumer in many ways,” he said during a January interview with MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”
