NRCC accuses W.H. of gamesmanship on McHugh nomination
In a memo just released, the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) attributes the appointment of Rep. John McHugh (R-N.Y.) as Army Secretary to Rahm Emanuel, the White House chief of Staff and former chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC).
The memo doesn’t merely suggest McHugh was appointed so that Democrats can take his seat – it basically states it.
“There is no doubt that White House Chief of Staff and former DCCC Chairman Rahm Emanuel was well aware of the political ramifications surrounding this selection when this plan was hatched. The party boss in the West Wing saw a political opportunity, and he seized on it Therefore, any attempts by Congressional Democrats to downplay their interest in the seat should be taken as the intellectually dishonest spin that it is.”
McHugh’s district went 52-47 for Obama, even thought McHugh carried it with 65 percent.
