Biden: Predicting Trump foreign policy ‘like a Rubik’s cube’

PBS NewsHour

Vice President Joe Biden says determining how President-elect Donald Trump will conduct foreign policy as president is “like a Rubik’s cube.”

Biden on Tuesday told the New York Times that if Trump fails to engage with the international community, “it could be very ugly.”

“It’s like a Rubik’s cube trying to figure this guy out. We have no freakin’ idea what he’s gonna do.”

{mosads}Biden earlier this month warned the incoming administration against investing in nuclear buildup, something Trump has said he would do since becoming president-elect.

“The question I get everywhere is: ‘Is American leadership going to continue?’ ” Biden said.

Following the election, Biden gave a speech in Latvia at the request of the country’s president, in which he said the U.S. would support the Baltic states should they face future Russian aggression.

Trump, who signaled during his campaign that he was open to warmer ties with Russia, caused distress among some members of the foreign policy community over his criticisms of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
