Dem decries Nunes’s ‘irregular’ White House visit
A Democrat on House Intelligence Committee says Chairman Devin Nunes’s (R-Calif.) late-night trip to see classified documents at the White House was “very irregular.”
{mosads}Asked if members of the committee made similar visits during President Obama’s tenure, Rep. Jim Himes (D-Conn.) said such trips were unusual.
“From time to time, members of the committee might go out to CIA, might go to NSA to talk to people and to review information,” Himes told The Hill, but going “to the White House is something I’ve never heard of.”
Himes is among a growing number of Democrats calling on Nunes to recuse himself from the panel’s investigation into Russia’s meddling in last year’s election.
“This investigation is on life support,” said Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.), who is also on the Intelligence Committee and wants Nunes to recuse himself.
