Fox News wants Watters off O’Reilly comedy tour: report
Fox News is working out contractual issues to keep anchor Jesse Watters off Bill O’Reilly’s comedy tour, according to a new report.
A source close to the situation told CNN Friday that Fox does not want Watters appearing alongside its former star.
O’Reilly has been promoting future dates for “The Spin Stops Here Tour” including himself, Watters and “Saturday Night Live” alum Dennis Miller.
The trek is a variation of the political comedy shows O’Reilly and Miller have performed together since 2011.
{mosads}O’Reilly told listeners on his “No Spin News” podcast last week that Watters will appear at upcoming shows.
“We’re going to do the tour,” he said of the venture, which includes stops in Baltimore, Tampa and Las Vegas. “The tour stays. Miller and Watters and me.”
O’Reilly did not mention Watters Thursday while encouraging listeners to purchase tickets to the tour.
“Miller and I will make it worth your while,” the former host of Fox’s “The O’Reilly Factor” said.
Watters regularly appeared on “The O’Reilly Factor,” usually hosting a segment featuring ambush interviews.
Fox is still dealing with the ousters of O’Reilly last month and CEO Roger Ailes last year.
Both men were accused of sexual misconduct by more than one female co-worker before their exits.
O’Reilly left after The New York Times reported that five women were paid $13 million over the years to settle sexual harassment suits involving him. O’Reilly has denied the allegations and said he was the victim of a smear campaign.
Watters came under fire last week after commenting on how President Trump’s daughter and White House adviser handled a microphone.
“I don’t really get what’s going on here but I really liked how she was speaking into the microphone,” he said of Ivanka Trump’s public appearance in Berlin.
Watters said last week the remark was “in no way a joke about anything else” following criticism it was vulgar.
