Uber’s board is reportedly planning to approach Facebook operating chief Sheryl Sandberg to serve as the ride-hailing company’s next CEO.

The New York Post reported that Uber board member Arianna Huffington is promoting the idea.

A source briefed on the situation told the Post that “Sheryl is their first choice.”

“That doesn’t mean they’re going to get her,” the source added.

Recode’s Kara Swisher reported that sources close to Sandberg said she would be staying with Facebook.

Other candidates for the job include Tom Staggs, former Disney operating chief, and Marissa Mayer, who recently stepped down as the chief executive of Yahoo, according to the Post.

Uber is looking for a new CEO after Travis Kalanick resigned as the company’s chief executive on Tuesday after being forced from the job by top investors in the company.

The former CEO will remain on Uber’s board of directors.

“I love Uber more than anything in the world and at this difficult moment in my personal life I have accepted the investors request to step aside so that Uber can go back to building rather than be distracted with another fight,” Kalanick said in a statement obtained by The Hill.

Uber in recent months has been reeling from a number of controversies and missteps, including allegations of widespread sexual harassment.
