Six people to attend Trump-Putin meeting: report
Only six people will be in the room for President Trump’s first meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday, Axios reported Thursday.
The six will be Trump, Putin, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and two translators, the report said.
National security adviser H.R. McMaster told reporters last week there is “no specific agenda” for the meeting.
“It’s really going to be whatever the president wants to talk about,” McMaster said.
{mosads}It’s unclear whether Trump will bring up the issue of Russian meddling in last year’s presidential election. Trump has repeatedly cast doubt on the U.S. intelligence community’s conclusion that the Kremlin interfered in the election specifically to help Trump win.
Top Trump aides are reportedly worried about what Trump will say during the meeting. Senior advisers have been pushing for Trump to include Fiona Hill, the National Security Council’s senior director for Europe and Russia and a top Kremlin critic, in the meeting to prevent Trump from acting too friendly toward Putin.
