GM: Detroit meeting with Auto Task Force ‘constructive’

Today’s visit to Detroit by the Obama administration’s auto task force was constructive, General Motors said late Monday.

“We were pleased to host the Task Force so they could experience firsthand the new products and technologies that are an integral part of GM’s near- and long-term competitiveness,” the company said in a statement. “We believe today’s visit provided a constructive glimpse of GM people, their passion for their work, and the technology solutions that are behind the pages of our viability plan.”

Investor Steven Rattner and union official Ron Bloom, who are leading the task force, huddled in meetings with GM and Chrysler officials as the federal government reviews the companies’ submitted restructuring plans and requests for additional loans in assistance.

“We look forward to continuing to support the efforts of the Task Force as they move quickly to address their critical tasks,” GM added.
