Pete King defends ‘unorthodox’ Scaramucci after attacks on Priebus

Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.) defended Anthony Scaramucci’s profanity-ridden interview with The New Yorker on Thursday, saying it’s a signifier of his “unorthodox” style.

“I’ve known a lot of guys like Anthony Scaramucci — probably not as smart as he is. But reading that, it sounded like a lot of guys I’ve spoken to late at night. After political meetings, a few guys get together and they start talking that way,” King said on CNN.

“It’s not the orthodox way to do it, it’s not the usual way to do it,” he added. “But it’s the first week of the job and we’ll see where this goes.”

In an interview with The New Yorker’s Ryan Lizza on Wednesday, Scaramucci railed against White House chief of staff Reince Priebus, chief strategist Stephen Bannon and the “leakers” in Trump’s White House.

Scaramucci said shortly after details of the conversation were published Thursday that he would “refrain” from using such “colorful language.”

Still, the interview exposed an intense feud between Scaramucci, whom Trump named communications director last week, and other White House officials, particularly Priebus, whom he called “a f—— paranoid schizophrenic.”
