Vice President Pence and his wife, Karen Pence, on Thursday prayed with victims and first responders in Texas amid fallout from Hurricane Harvey.

Speaking to a gathering of people in Rockport, Texas, near where the hurricane first made landfall, the vice president passed a microphone to his wife “for a quick word of prayer for those of you so inclined.”

“Heavenly father, we thank you for the amazing people who are an inspiration to us all across the United States and across the world,” Karen Pence said, with the vice president standing to her right and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) on her left.

We pray for their safety and a blessing on them,” she said. “We pray for your blessing on the state of Texas and relieving them as they go through some hard days going forward.”

The prayer ended with the group shouting a vigorous “amen.”

Pence also said President Trump and first lady Melania Trump will return to southeast Texas on Saturday. Trump was first in the state, visiting Corpus Christi and Austin, on Tuesday.
