CNN host Anthony Bourdain joked in an interview with TMZ that he would poison President Trump if given the opportunity to cook for him and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

“If Trump and Kim Jong-un were going to have a bit of a summit to try and mend relations and they wanted you to cater, what would you serve?” asked a TMZ reporter.

“Hemlock,” Bourdain deadpanned.

Hemlock is defined as “a drug or lethal drink prepared from the poison hemlock” that has been used as an execution method.

The comment by Bourdain was made last week but has received more attention after being reported on several online outlets in recent days.

The backlash on social media from conservatives has been increasing as a result.

Bourdain dined with President Barack Obama in 2016 for a “Parts Unknown” episode in Vietnam, but said he would never do the same with Trump in a Trump hotel restaurant.

“I will never eat in his restaurant,” Bourdain told food news website Eater after Trump was elected.

“I have utter contempt for him, utter and complete contempt.”

CNN fired Kathy Griffin from her co-hosting role on its annual New Year’s Eve co-hosting gig in June after Griffin did a photo shoot that featured her holding up a bloodied severed head that resembling Trump.

The network also parted ways with host Reza Aslan in June after he called the president a “POS” on Twitter.
