New York Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) on Tuesday declared Sept. 19, 2017, “Morning Joe Day” during a live appearance on the MSNBC show.
De Blasio, quoting the proclamation on air, said the show has “raised our country’s daily news and talk show landscape to new heights of excellence” and cited its “thought-provoking news coverage.”
{mosads}“Therefore, I, Bill de Blasio, mayor of the city of New York, do hereby proclaim, Tuesday, September 19, 2017 in the city of New York as ‘Morning Joe Day,’ ” the mayor said.
The show has been on air since 2007 and occupies the 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. time slot on MSNBC.
It has recently been in the crosshairs of President Trump, who has repeatedly criticized the show on Twitter.
In June, “Morning Joe” hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski clashed with the president after he tweeted about the show.
“I heard poorly rated Morning Joe speaks badly of me (don’t watch anymore). Then how come low I.Q. Crazy Mika, along with Psycho Joe, came to Mar-a-Lago 3 nights in a row around New Year’s Eve, and insisted on joining me. She was bleeding badly from a face-lift. I said no!” Trump tweeted at the time.
