Mnuchin mum on Price resignation: ‘Public deserved to know how their money is being spent’
Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin in an interview broadcast Sunday refused to comment on former Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price’s resignation, but said the American people “deserved to know” how the government is spending their money.
“Again, I can’t comment,” Mnuchin told NBC’s “Meet the Press.”
{mosads}“What I will say is appropriate is I think the American public deserved to know how their money is being spent and that it’s being spent carefully.”
Price resigned on Friday after the fallout from reports that he traveled on private and military aircraft at taxpayers’ expense.
He offered his resignation to President Trump, making Price the first Cabinet official to resign from the Trump administration.
