Biden: ‘There’s no excuse for inaction’ on gun violence

Former Vice President Joe Biden called for the federal government to take action on gun violence after a deadly mass shooting in Las Vegas Sunday night.

“Appalled by the senseless loss of life in Las Vegas. Jill and I hold all those affected and grieving in our hearts,” Biden tweeted Monday.

Biden led President Obama’s gun violence task force in the wake of the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012.

He joins a list of Democratic politicians calling for Congress to pass legislation on gun control in the hours after the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history.

Suspected gunman Stephen Paddock, 64, opened fire at a country music festival in the city, leaving more than 50 people dead and hundreds more wounded.

Lawmakers like Connecticut Sens. Chris Murphy (D) and Richard Blumenthal (D) similarly called for Congress to take action after the shooting.

President Trump called the shooting “an act of pure evil” and announced that he will travel to Las Vegas on Wednesday to meet with victims and first responders.
