Empire State Building’s tower goes dark for second night

The Empire State Building will remain dark on Wednesday for a second night in a row to honor those who were recently killed in a terror attack in New York City.

Eight people died and a dozen other people were injured after a truck barreled into pedestrians and bicyclists in Lower Manhattan on Tuesday.

The suspect, Sayfullo Saipov, is an Uzbek national who entered the U.S. in 2010 through a lottery system, according to the Department of Homeland Security.

Authorities believe the attack had been planned for several weeks.

President Trump seized on the deadly truck attack as a reason to further crack down on immigration and implement stronger security measures.

“We have to get much tougher. We have to get much smarter. And we have to get much less politically correct,” Trump said Wednesday. The day before, he advocated for a tougher vetting program for would-be immigrants.
