Stearns Wins BCS Bet, Gets Box of Chocolates
Rep. Cliff Stearns (R) can thank his district’s college football team, the national champion University of Florida Gators, for winning one over Rep. Tom Cole (R-Okla.).
The two congressmen made a friendly wager on last week’s BCS national championship game between Florida and the University of Oklahoma Sooners, who play in Cole’s district. If the Sooners had won, Stearns would have had to give Cole a case of Florida oranges. But Florida won, 24-14. To honor the bet, Cole on Thursday handed over a gift box of chocolates made by Cole’s fellow Chickasaw Nation members.
