McConnell on sexual misconduct allegations against Trump: I only have jurisdiction in Senate

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) in an interview Sunday would not say if he believes the women who have accused President Trump of sexual misconduct, maintaining that his jurisdiction over such accusations is limited to the Senate.

During an interview with ABC’s “This Week,” host George Stephanopoulos asked McConnell if he believes Trump’s accusers and if those allegations should become part of a probe.

{mosads}“Well, my job is to be the majority leader of the Senate. And we have jurisdiction over these matters when there is a senator accused of some wrongdoing, for example, we have two other Ethics Committee cases right now, Senator Franken and Senator Menendez,” McConnell told Dickerson, referring to Sens. Al Franken (D-Minn.) and Bob Menendez (D-N.J.).

“So, we will handle this in the Senate when it comes to senators’ alleged behavior.”

Multiple women have come forward to accuse Franken of inappropriately touching them in separate incidents.

McConnell called for a Senate Ethics Committee probe after a judge declared a mistrial in Menendez’s corruption case.
