Bush Admin. Announces Bailout to Automakers

The Bush administration announced Friday it would provide billions of dollars in loans to troubled U.S. automakers to help them avoid bankruptcy.

The automakers will receive a $13.4 billion assistance package that will force restructuring and concessions on labor and retirement benefits, with the threat of repaying those loans on March 31st if they fail to meet those conditions.
