WATCH: Dem lawmaker: House immigration bill can’t ‘make it through the Senate’

Congressional Hispanic Caucus member Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.) says that a House GOP-backed immigration bill offered Wednesday is “never going to make it through the Senate.”

“A Goodlatte bill is never going to make it through the Senate — no matter,” Gallego said in an interview with The Hill.

{mosads}Gallego added that it’s “not realistic” of the Republican leaders to think that the bill offered by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) will be accepted by the 60 members of Senate needed for passage of a measure to fix the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.

Republicans and Democrats met at the White House with President Trump on Tuesday to discuss a compromise to allow nearly 800,000 immigrants who came to the U.S. illegally as children to stay in the country.
