Obama Cleans Up on East Coast, McCain Takes Tenn., Okla.

Major networks are calling Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maine, and Maryland for Barack Obama, while Tennessee and Oklahoma have been called for John McCain.

All states voted for the same party’s candidate as in 2004, and none were close races according to major polls. Tennessee figured to be the closest of those six states (plus DC), according to major polls, as RealClearPolitics’s average gave McCain a 14 percentage point edge.

At this point in the night, no state has strayed from its 2004 preference as of yet.
