Former Playboy model Karen McDougal said in an interview broadcast Thursday that she feels remorse toward first lady Melania Trump over her alleged affair with President Trump.

During an interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper, McDougal apologized when asked what she would say to the first lady if she had the chance to speak to her now.

“What can you say except ‘I’m sorry?'” McDougal said. “I’m sorry. I wouldn’t want it done to me.”

{mosads}”When I look back, where I was back then, I know it’s wrong,” she continued, fighting back tears. “I’m really sorry for that. I know it’s a wrong thing to do.”

McDougal, along with adult-film star Stormy Daniels, allege they both had separate affairs with Trump in 2006, a year after he married first lady Melania Trump.

Daniels was paid $130,000 by Trump’s personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, weeks before the 2016 presidential election in a payment she says was intended to keep her silent.

Trump and the White House have denied both alleged affairs.

McDougal earlier this week sued the company that owns the National Enquirer in an effort to break her silence.

The company, American Media Inc., reportedly paid her $150,000 for the story about her alleged affair with Trump but never published the allegations.

The former model says the company “manipulated” her into selling her story only for it to never be released.

“AMI lied to me, made empty promises, and repeatedly intimidated and manipulated me,” McDougal said in a statement Tuesday.

“I just want the opportunity to set the record straight and move on with my life, free from this company, its executives, and its lawyers.”
