Woman takes photo with Cruz wearing ‘Texas deserves better than Cruz’ sign

A woman wearing a sign around her neck that said “Texas deserves better than Cruz” was photographed with Sen. Ted Cruz’s (R-Texas).

The woman posted the photo to Twitter with the caption: “Got to meet someone who supposedly represents me today. Not for much longer, though! #BetoForTexas @SenTedCruz @BetoORourke.”

She tagged Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-Texas), who is challenging Cruz for his Senate seat.

The photo had received more than 114,000 likes and 25,000 retweets as of Monday afternoon.

In a tweet posted Monday, the woman said she had tried to reach out to Cruz and others “through traditional channels.”

“I’m tired of voicemails. Many Texans feel like we’re screaming into a void,” she tweeted. “We feel powerless, and we feel ignored. When I saw Cruz onboard, I thought ‘This is my ONE opportunity to MAKE SOMEONE LISTEN.'”

O’Rourke earlier this month won the Democratic nomination, officially setting up his high-profile clash with Cruz in November.

The congressman won just 62 percent of the vote against candidates with far less name recognition and resources, signaling he still needs to boost his statewide name recognition.
