Trump shares photo from dinner with GOP leaders
President Trump shared a photo of himself alongside Republican congressional leaders at the White House on Wednesday, as the group met for a private dinner.
House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy(R-Calif.), House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.), Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn (R-Texas) were all in attendance.
In his tweet, Trump said there was “Lots to discuss as we continue MAKING AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

Trump’s photo comes just hours after Ryan announced he would not run for elected office in 2018, kickstarting a scramble among congressional Republicans to replace him.
McCarthy and Scalise, both present at the dinner, are reportedly vying for Ryan’s spot.
Ryan’s announcement deepened fears among Republicans going into the midterms. The Wisconsin Republican’s seat adds to those the party must defend in 2018 as dozens of GOP retirements and resignations open opportunities for Democrats.
