WATCH: Nancy Pelosi plans to keep her ‘seat at the table’

In an exclusive interview with The Hill’s Jamal Simmons, House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) says she feels a responsibility to stay in leadership.

Asked about being the “only woman at the table,” Pelosi — the only female party leader in Congress — said it’s a seat she doesn’t plan to give up.

“I don’t intend to relinquish that seat at the table,” Pelosi said. “I thought — no I didn’t think, I knew Hillary Clinton was going to win and I thought ‘OK, then there is a woman at the head of the table.'”  {mosads}

“It didn’t happen,” Pelosi said, “and I intend to retain my seat.”

Pelosi’s comment about staying in leadership comes after Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) announced this week he would not be running for reelection, ending his time as Speaker of the House.
