Comey to speak at Amazon headquarters

Former FBI Director James Comey will make an appearance at Amazon headquarters, where he will speak on ethical leadership and his new book, The Intercept reported.

Comey will reportedly speak at the company’s Seattle “Fishbowl” headquarters. He will not receive a speaking fee for the appearance, according to an Amazon source who spoke to Axios. An Amazon spokesperson confirmed to The Hill that the visit was planned months in advance.

“We regularly host a wide range of musicians, actors, public officials and authors on campus as part of our Fishbowl program,” an Amazon spokeswoman said.

The announcement comes after the former FBI chief spent a week on the national media circuit attacking the president and promoting his new book, “A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies, and Leadership,” which was published this week.

Comey’s decision to speak at Amazon puts him back in the crosshairs of President Trump, a top critic of both Comey and Amazon who responded directly to revelations from Comey’s book and media appearances this week.

The president wrote on Twitter on Wednesday that Comey, whom he fired last year, was not let go over his handling of the Russia investigation as he previously told NBC’s Lester Holt.

“Slippery James Comey, the worst FBI Director in history, was not fired because of the phony Russia investigation where, by the way, there was NO COLLUSION (except by the Dems)!” he wrote.

Trump has frequently attacked Amazon and its CEO Jeff Bezos, whom he has accused of taking advantage of the U.S. postal system with Amazon’s online delivery system.

“I am right about Amazon costing the United States Post Office massive amounts of money for being their Delivery Boy. Amazon should pay these costs (plus) and not have them bourne by the American Taxpayer. Many billions of dollars. P.O. leaders don’t have a clue (or do they?)!” Trump tweeted earlier this month.

Trump has also frequently accused Bezos, who also owns the Washington Post, of using the paper as a “lobbyist” for his company and accused the Post of being “fake news.”
