Secret Service arrests person with weapon at foreign consular office in DC
The Secret Service says it arrested an armed person on Wednesday morning near a foreign consulate office in Washington, D.C..
At around 10:45 a.m., the Secret Service responded to reports of gunfire in D.C.’s West End neighborhood.
No shots were fired but one person with a gun was arrested, according to a statement from the Secret Service, which listed an address near the consulate office of the Mexican Embassy.

The individual was transported to the Metropolitan Police Department’s 2nd District for processing, the Secret Service said.

The Secret Service is now working with law enforcement to investigate the incident and said that, as a matter of policy, it can’t comment on the ongoing investigation.
Details about the individual, a motive or the weapon remain unclear. It is also unclear if the person was inside one of the consulates or if a specific building had been targeted.
