WATCH: GOP lawmaker sees “great potential” in briefing on FBI informant

Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-N.Y.), who on Tuesday introduced legislation to set up a second special counsel to investigate the FBI, said he sees “great potential” in Wednesday’s meeting between GOP lawmakers and officials with the Justice Department and intelligence community.

Zeldin said Thursday’s meeting at the White House between House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.), Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.), FBI Director Christopher Wray, Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats and top Justice Department official Ed O’Callaghan could also lead to additional meetings.

“It’s not known yet whether or not that next meeting is a meeting that results in a whole lot of information provided … there’s great potential for there to be a next meeting and at that meeting all sorts of information is provided that wasn’t previously,” he said.
